His musical journey commenced upon his arrival in South Africa in 2000. He quickly established himself as a performer in various venues and music events around the city. Subsequently, he relocated to Johannesburg, where he independently released his debut album, initially selling CDs directly to his audience.

Driven by his passion for music, he then journeyed south, seeking an environment conducive to his artistic development. Following a brief period in Namibia, Mapumba settled in South Africa and secured a performance residency at a prominent venue in Johannesburg. Concurrently, he broadened his professional portfolio by working as a freelance TV presenter for the lifestyle program "Studio 53."
